(Fairfax, VA – June
12, 2008) - Gershman, Brickner & Bratton,
Inc. (GBB) is pleased to announce that John Roderique,
P.E., is re-joining GBB as a Vice President, and that Camilo
Restrepo is joining the firm for the summer as part of
GBB's Internship Program.
Mr. Roderique, originally
with the firm in its early years and over the past ten years
as a GBB Principal Associate, has more than 30 years experience
in solid waste management consulting, manufacturing industries,
and business management. He
has assisted numerous clients in planning and implementing
a range of technologies, including materials recovery and
recycling, composting, collection, transportation, landfilling,
and waste-to-energy projects in 16 states. He holds a M.B.A.,
Finance, from New York University, and a B.S., Mechanical
Engineering, from Louisiana State University.
"Environmental
goals, growth, and volatile costs due to dramatic energy
price increases challenge solid waste systems nationwide,” noted
John Roderique, GBB Vice President. "From my
experience in other industries, I look for solutions that
meet a combination of business oriented and government agency
needs and this fits with GBB's approach. I am enthusiastic
about helping local governments meet these challenges in
this new role with the GBB team."
Originally from Colombia,
Mr. Restrepo is currently a graduate student at the University
of Maryland pursuing a Master's
Degree in Environmental Engineering. A Fulbright Scholar,
he has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering
and work experience in the environmental management field
at three companies in Colombia. He speaks Spanish, English,
French and German. As part of the Internship Program, he
will provide support and perform solid waste management and
recycling research for various GBB projects.
GBB's Internship Program,
instituted in 1982, allows students and participants in special
career advancement programs to acquire hands-on experience
in the solid waste management industry, further their knowledge
in the environmental field and work with senior consultants
who are industry leaders.
"We feel that it is
our duty to mentor young individuals and provide them with
the opportunity to complement their academic background with
first-hand work experience," noted
Harvey Gershman, GBB President. "It is always rewarding,
years later, when we come across individuals who took advantage
of the program and see them pursue a career in the environmental
field."
GBB is a national solid waste management consulting firm
founded in 1980 that works on solid waste collection, processing,
recycling and disposal issues, and assists in planning, procuring
and implementing sound, cost-effective facilities and services
at the local, state and national levels for both the public
and private sectors. For more information on the firm and
