| GBB Announces 2007 Internship Program
Participants
(Fairfax, VA – June
22, 2007) - Gershman, Brickner & Bratton,
Inc. (GBB) announced today that Efrain Somoza and Mirelle
L. Rosera are joining the firm for the summer as part of
GBB’s Internship Program. The Program, instituted
in 1982, allows students and participants in special career
advancement programs to acquire hands-on experience in
the solid waste management industry, further their knowledge in the
environmental field, and work with senior consultants who
are industry leaders.
“We feel that it is our duty to mentor young individuals
and provide them with the opportunity to complement their
academic background with first-hand work experience,” noted
Harvey Gershman, GBB President. “It is always rewarding,
years later, when we come across individuals who took advantage
of GBB’s Internship Program and see them pursue a career
in the environmental field.”
Mr. Somoza, from El Salvador, joins
the Internship Program through Partners of the Americas’ Business Fellows
Program, which sponsors the exchange of private sector professionals
to carry out a fellowship at a host entity. Fellows are selected
based on outstanding performance and the ability to play
leadership roles in their organizations. By exchanging expertise
and resources through the work of the Business Fellows Program,
sending and receiving organizations establish valuable relationships
with counterpart entities throughout the Americas. The
program’s goals are to promote greater understanding
of issues related to international business and economic
growth with Latin America and the Caribbean, and to forge
and strengthen long-term institutional linkages between the
private sectors of the U.S. and Latin America through the
exchange of technical resources and expertise.
Mr. Somoza has a Ph.D. in human health
and a Bachelor’s
degree in eco-technology, human health and environment from
the University of El Salvador. He works at Community Projects
of El Salvador (PROCOMES), a non-governmental organization
that provides technical assistance to small enterprises that
collect and recycle solid waste collected in urban areas
into plastics.
Ms. Rosera, a junior at Indiana University, is majoring
in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She is enrolled
in the Liberal Arts Management Program, resulting in a certificate
in business management. As part of her duties, she will provide
administrative support and perform solid waste management
and recycling research for various GBB projects.
